A Singaporean company which operates factories etc in New Zealand is developing a dry food (kibble) for dogs with a main component being NZ possum meat.

To date the company (Addiction Foods) uses 50,000 NZ possums per year on its canned and dehydrated form of dog and cat food containing possum meat

Dogs do not have allergies pertaining to possum like they can have with other protein. Possum meat is high in Omega3 fatty acids which is also anti-inflammatory.

Just glimpsed a new New Zealand-produced dog roll with its major component being possum meat. This from a company which produces the more usual meats as the major ingredient of its dog roll portfolio - the rolls surpass AAFCO-standards and are the only rolls on the market in NZ which don't require refrigeration (but do need to be stored in a cool place) and can last eight weeks or more.
